Long distance adoption is a means by which it is possible to guarantee education, food and medical care to minors.Long distance adoption is an altruistic and conscious act which becomes a concrete economic and continual commitment in favour of a child and of his community with the goal of improving the conditions of the needy without uprooting them from their social and cultural structure. Thanks to the children enrolled in the support program many other children will have the possibility of having a better future. Supporting a child costs 80 cents a day. Upon adherence to the program the supporter receives a brief personal story and photograph of the child. Every December a new photograph of the child and a letter from the person in charge of the center where the minor lives will update the supporter on the child’s progress and on his psychological and physical development and on his scholastic learning. Furthermore, in June and December, our report “AFRICAONLINE” will be sent with all the latest news regarding the completed projects. In so doing each supporter can verify what has been accomplished in the communities of support thanks to the children adopted long distance. It is possible to visit the child adopted long distance. This is naturally a very constructive experience which puts the supporter in direct contact with the child, the communities and their problems, hopes and expectations. The visit also allows the supporter to witness the work done by the association. It is possible to send correspondence to the child. Through our office in Genoa we collect the correspondence to send during the course of the year. We recommend that the letters be short, easy to interpret and translate.
